Our mission is to drive creative technology and to interpret opportunity in the new media landscape by accelerating the pace of testing new ideas, creating revenue, learning from mistakes, and developing rapidly scalable new business models.
Mission and History
TLM was founded in early 2004 using a $50,000 retainer and a borrowed office. But we had a huge dream, to create a company were talented individuals who loved their craft could come together to dream, think big, and build experiences that helped consumers learn about and achieve the things they love. Initially the company focused on producing digital creative services. In the first year of operation TLM launched a leading national web property and worked with clients such as Coca-Cola, Sears, Starbucks, Motorola, Microsoft, Nike, Adidas, Columbia Sportswear, HP, Tony and Guy, and Oregon State University.
Like most, TLM’s history is checkered with mistakes – mistakes that have opened doors to new ways of doing things and created vast opportunity for our many stakeholders – customers, employees, partners, and shareholders. This is reflected by our company’s mission; to drive creative technology and to interpret opportunity in the new media landscape by accelerating the pace of testing new ideas, creating revenue, learning from mistakes, and developing rapidly scalable new business models.
After winning a variety of digital advertising and creative awards for our clients – we decided to get to work creating products for ourselves. In 2007, TLM founded a social media and search technology enterprise called Saber Seven, Inc. in New York City. TLM’s founder led the enterprise to launch a consumer search product that the New York Times said “ Could easily surpass the results of a Google search”.
We’ve found that a small, dedicated, and agile team often accomplishes faster, better, more innovative results. They are able to quickly learn from mistakes and capture opportunity. Our ventures and the companies we advise follow this philosophy. It has instilled in us a belief not only in big ideas, but the nimble execution that makes big ideas become real. We don’t believe in big business, big ego, or big budgets. We do believe in rapidly testing new ideas. We do believe in freely sharing the things we learn. Above all we believe in the power of partnerships and we believe in nurturing our ever-expanding collective of highly intelligent, highly motivated, amazing friends, colleagues, and associates.
Today TLM is partnered with dozens of entrepreneurs and quickly assembling a collection of technology products and companies that help consumers learn about or achieve the things they love. We are can-do, always open to potentials, always confident in our future. We believe in the power of the mind, our ability when passionately and persistently focused to create a new reality, to convert our mission to that reality. It is a core principle at work among our partners. We dream big. We learn from the past, but look to the future. Our vision is not tomorrow or next year, but the next generation. And it’s a vision that we build toward expectantly and confidently.
